#62 - Making waves with Maarten Raemdonck and Lien Dewitte
Aquafin is one of Belgiums’ biggest wastewater management organisations. Its mission? To “work towards streams and brooks full of life, and a living environment in harmony with water.” One that demands constant innovation in a world of complex infrastructure and essential public services.
In this episode, we sit down with Maarten Raemdonck, Head of Innovation at Aquafin, and Lien Dewitte from Leap Forward, who has been supporting Maarten and his team in embedding innovation across the organisation.
Together, they share the story of how Aquafin’s innovation journey unfolded: from early experiments with bold ideas to learning what it really takes to make change stick inside a large, technical organisation.
Maarten opens up about what’s worked (and what hasn’t) in driving transformation from within, while Lien reflects on her experience as an innovation coach, helping Aquafin’s employees find the confidence, tools, and mindset to develop and champion their own ideas. Because real change is always about people and only happens from within.
Listen to this honest conversation about how innovation can grow, with lots of examples of a company that treats the domestic waste water of about 5 million people, daily.
A big thank you to Maarten and Lien for sharing their story and insights with us!
