This year in Madrid will mark the tenth edition of the Service Design Global Conference. We talk to Birgit Mager, Alex Nisbett, and Jamin Hegeman about 10 years of Service Design conferences. They take us back to the start, share their personal highlights and get us excited for the upcoming conference. Have a listen in anticipation of the next edition and come and find us to say hello in Madrid.
What we learned
It was interesting to hear that at first the team aimed to keep the conference at a small scale, to ensure the very personal and interactive nature of the conference. It turned out, however, that this atmosphere remained, even when scaling up. It is then fitting that the title of this year's conference is "Service Design at Scale". The team find that designers throughout the network are currently tackling the challenge of scaling up Service Design.
Most surprising insight
We also talked about the characteristics of Service Designers that make for great conference guests. They found service designers to be empathic, that also enjoy a bit of fun. 🎉 You'll definitely catch us at the conference party!
